South Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia The proposal for a cruise ship terminal appears to have been scrapped, according to the Government of Queensland, Australia, a major victory for Gold Coast surfers. Still, a proposal for a Super-Yacht Marina threatens the channel, leaving an uncertain future for the waves at South Straddie, despite the recent victory.  -more-

Playa Teta, Panama All seems quiet on the Rio Teta after Save the Waves' director, Will Henry, visited the site last June. While the threat on a dam still looms pending the result of an independent EIR, the project grows less and less likely as time goes on.  -more-

La Libertad, El Salvador The world-famous wave in La Libertad is still under threat, but locals have become increasingly doubtful that the project will actually move forward. What happens next may be anyone's guess.  -more-

Playa Encuentro Dominican Republic The beach access issue in Playa Encuentro has still not been resolved, but many signatures have been collected to make sure that beach developers know what they are up against. Nonetheless, the petition is still open for signatures. To do so, click here.
